I was in Tahiti last January. I read in the Lonely Planet Guide that some of the Bars in the centre of Papeete have hookers on certain nights, but also that a fair number appears to be transvestites. I didn't dare try one of these bars, also because I was staying at a hotel not quite in the centre of town. In addition, I couldn't find any personal ads in the two daily newspapers. So I left Tahiti unsatisfied which is a pity, because there where a lot of incredibly beautiful ladies in the streets.
